Default Ranger+Wilderness Survival = Sword use

Rangers should be able to use another weapon other then a bow..

Bows while cool.. are the only weapon a ranger can use and get full damage from.
Warriors can use Hammers/Swords/Axes.

I think Rangers should be able to use short swords or something.. come on.. blades are essentials to surviving in the wilderness... wouldn't a self respecting Ranger know how to use a darn knife or sword?

The high end swords could be locked out to only Warriors or the addition of Sword Mastery means you have less Attribute points for other skills.. causing a trade-off and making the player choose a strategy.

Remeber.. Guild Wars is all about strategy and using your limited skills to the max.. addition of a sword skill would force you to choose a close-in Ranger or a long range ranger.

Like the following ideas posted by other members...

NEW SKILL:Etherial shot
Quivers
Stealth/Scout - similar to shadow walk
Combining Charm and comfort animal
direct Pet to move ahead, or attack specific enemies [important]
See modified energy costs based on expertise [important]

I think these ideas could be implemented without affecting play balance or making the Ranger class too powerful.

Own Ideas....

Dual Wield weapons
Swordmanship

My 2 ideas I think would be the least likely to be implemented 'cause it is too much like a Warrior or Assasin. I just don't want to give up my 2nd class to get an off-hand attack like assasins or swordsmanship like a warrior

That would make pulling things so much easier...

Rangers are the only class without an offhand bonus (unless wielding a melee weapon). Staves have better bonuses in most cases than bows do, giving hp, energy, ect. This would be a great place to make the quiver as a "offhand" item. Placing the quiver in the offhand would equip it on the back and could only be wielded while wielding a bow.
The clipping of cape through the quiver wouldn't be too bad, if the quiver just sat on top (you could just turn off the cape too. Currently, a staff user will find the staff "magically" pokes a hole through the guild cape anyway. Not a huge issue to me.

Pet commands! I've been asking for this since I started playing. It's time for Pet and henchie commands.

i like the idea of just having a quiver for appearance. keeps things simple.

also there are some npc rangers who DO have quivers, and that upsets me.

I'd love to have a pet bar with some simple commands as well.

Additionally the quiver for ascetic purposes would be a great addition.

I really like the idea of having pet interaction emotes. Like /Pet <petname>, /Play <petname>, /Feed <petname>, /Praise <petname>.

Would be simple enough to implement.

Put the quivers on the side, where a scabbard would normally hang. No game graphics tweaks needed.

The kennel is a must. The Pet bar to control them is a must. These are very standard features in other games.

The unique avatars for each Nature spirit is a great idea.

I'd like to see more pets - even if they are just different asthetically - although I feel there should be pro's and con's to each pet.

Placing the quiver on the side would not interfere with the cape in anyway. Therefore I agree that from a CGI perspective the quiver on the side would be the easiest option. Just have to make some adjustments to things like sitting, kneeling, and the dancing option for the Rangers(male at least).

Quiver as an offhand item that can be equipted with use of Bows? Entertain your self with this thought.

for an offhand for bows why dont they just impliment the bow realease things. it helps you hold your bow at full draw longer without feeling like your fingers are popping off.

ps ill get a pic of one as soon as photobucket is back up
sorry for the late edit just uploaded it

this i think would be the most pracitcal off implimintan a offhand bow idea.
i use it for my coumpound bow and it really nice to have for heavy lbs bows

I was splicing up with Photoshop and I found two ranger faces I really liked.. But they were too extreme in their features, so I mixed them together. I hope GW implements more "medium" faces like this.

Eye Color needs to be added to customization too...

Rangers should be able to have a different TYPE of weapon to use other than a bow....
Maybe a special type of sword or something

When Factions comes out, there will be the Ranger/Assassin with daggers, that'll satisfy your need for a "rogue" type of ranger.

hehe, I was refering to the use of the current slot, not to hold the quiver in the offhand... common since I would have hoped, would have answered that.

Place quiver in offhand "slot" in inventory - therefore the devs do not need to create a new slot for inventory. Equip quiver and now, it shows on the back, or side as others have suggested. That help any?
